The ruins cover quite an area and are in surprisingly good condition being open to the elements after being covered for thousands of years and open to the public to climb all over every day. Much of the ruins are carved local stone which was of a low grade and quite porous looking but was rendered over to give a satisfactory and smooth finish. Of course the covering is now gone and the stone is starting to dissolve to a powdery finish
