Day 25
Temple Day
So 'Paul' arrived to pick us up and we tried to get out of going with him but he was having none of it, so Luke the little barterer, bartered him down to $2 more than the hotel which was great.
First temple Angkor Wat which is a Hindu temple was fantastic it was the most preserved temple that we saw. It was giant and took us a while to walk around plus it was sweltering which did not make things easier. We toured the temple and went to one of the taller parts of the temple which you could walk up, up some HUGH STEEP steps eeeeeek, I was scared, I was holding on with two hands, coming down was even worse. The tall towers of the temple represent a closed lotus flower :)
The second temple was Angkor Thom which is a Buddhist temple, this temple had been left to ruins in quite a lot of areas it had just crumbled, none the less some parts were still in tact which looked fantastic, some parts of the temple had huge towers which has faces on each edge which were still visible.
Finally the best was saved until last Ta Prom - Tomb Raider temple :) sooooooo exciting this is where Angelina Jolie filmed Tomb Raider I was so excited for this temple, just because she has been there. But this temple was the worst condition of all the temples it was all underconstruction. One thing that was amazing was that the reason it was in such bad condition was because the surrounding trees had grown so large and their roots had taken over the temple crushing it. This looked amazing it was asthough the trees were just walking through the temples. However not so good for the temple.
Fantastic day.
