Its Anzac Day back in Australia so we had a minutes silence before we started our tour. Carine was our guide today and it was a really informative bus tour. We drove around the streets and Carine pointed out famous landmarks. We stopped for some photo shots where we could, the Eiffel Tower, Napoleons Tomb which is located in the central crypt of the Eglise du Dome Church at the Hotel des Invalides, drove around the Arc de Triomphe and down the Champs de Elysees passing the Luxor Obelisk. When the tour ended Garry, Betty, Pete and I visited the Musee DÓrsay.
The Musée d'Orsay is on the left bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, an impressive Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1915, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces in the world, by such painters such as Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin and Van Gogh
I was in heaven. We had to be back at our hotel by 4.45pm to meet up with our group as we were having a Parisian Dinner together. We drove by bus to Mont Marte and boarded the little run about train which took us to the top of the mountain. We walked around the village and viewed the local artistry and souvenir shops. Garry and Peter opted to sit it out at a cafe bar and have a local beer. We had tea at La Bonne Franquette which was a beautiful restuarant and the meals were excellent. Pete and Betty had snails, one of Petes snails slipped of his plate, funniest thing ever, as he commented, slippery little sucker. After Dinner we made our way down the mountain by the fenicular and back to our hotel by bus.
