Donna and Peters Rhineland Adventure
Euro Disney is located 32kms out of Paris so we were up early and headed to the Metro, we had to change platforms at Nation Metro and take the RER A route to Marne La Vallee. We had pre booked entrance tickets and were at the gates when they opened at 10 am. We walked through the main street and our first impression was WOW. Straight ahead was the Fantasyland Castle and branching off in different directions was Frontierland, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Discoveryland. First stop was Frontierland, went on the old paddle boat around a small island. We walked around the area and watched the big train ride roller coaster on Big Thunder Mountain and then headed for Fantasyland which was beautiful. The rides were very princess like and the queues were huge. Its a Small World attraction seemed to have the longest queue. Then to Adventureland where we spent some time at the Pirates of the Carribean and we went on the water ride here, waiting over an hour in a queue for a ride that lasted all of 5 minutes. Discoveryland was really interesting where there were some amazing rides, Space Mountain and Buzz Lightning Laser Blast ride. We saw Darth Vader, Pluto, the Chipmunks, Peter Pan and Wendy. We had a hot dog for lunch and then went over to Disney Studios where we took a small train ride around the studios watching some movie stunts, explosion, fire and floods. We spent a long day walking around, reckon you need at least 3 days to see these two parks. We had to be back at Republique by 8pm as we were going out to the Lido with Evergreen. We drove down the Champs Elysee after 8pm and the ambiance of the area was amazing, with lights, shows and cafe bars alive on both sides of the road. We had tea in a cafe next to the Lido. The Lido show was good, but the performers were a little second rate. Their timings were off, but it still was a good experience.

Up early and boarded a bus to take us to Amsterdam. It was over 560 kms drive and the bus had some technical issues. Someone tried to break into the drivers side of the bus and broke a window and the drivers door would not close so he had to use packing tape to try and seal it. We could only travel at 80kms and it was a very slow journey. We stopped at Brussels for lunch at Market Square and had lunch at Exki. There were local market stalls and lots of souvenir shops. Betty and I walked around a found another square called Ground Place, which had some magnificent old buildings. Back on the bus to Amsterdam, arrived at 6.30pm about an hour later than expected. We boarded our ship, Amadeus Silver and were allocated our rooms and unpacked for the next two weeks. Had tea and a tour meeting then headed for the red light district...................... Garry, Betty, Pete and I walked around Dam Square and the Red Light District for a few hours and had a wonderful time enjoying the unusual shops and activities on offer.
