Early flight from London to Spain to meet Cass. Our flights got in 10 mins apart so that was convienent. When we met up, realised neither of us had the details of the hotel we were going to so it took us a good hr and half to find a internet that worked! Go our organisational skills! Got a bus into the main train station / top of Las Ramblas and foudn our hotel.
Hotel Gaudi was nice and cheap, about 20m off LaRamblas. Aparently it is across the road from a famous gaudi building but we only worked that out the next day when people were taking photos.
We headed out to La Ramblas (its a mall with lots of restaurants, street performers, kiosks and also a few random shops selling rats and birds (????). Wandered around, got some lunch and tried my first SANGRIA.. quite impressed for someone that doesnt like red wine.
I had a siesta and then we walked down to the port which is a little more flashy part of town with nice seafood restaurants, a shopping mall and looots of flash boats! had dinner at a nice place, watching the sunset, the sky turned a beautiful pink and the sangria tasted even better :) They had a TV on in the background showing the homecoming of the Spain football team and it was absolutely mad! we sat there for about 4 hrs and the whole time it was live feed of the celebrations in Madrid, massssive street parade. Not much evidence of partying in Barcelona.
