A short 2 hour flight at 630 to Munich on a lovely little polish airlines plane with seats that have less room then a smart car we landed in Munich for our quick stopover which turned out tone alot longer then expected as the plane sat on the Tarmac for around a hour before take off....fun times for all. Landing in Paris we said our goodbyes to Theo as he wasn't coming to tomorrowland and amsterdam with us and set off towards gare de nord to catch a bus to Brussels.
Along the way Smoe realised that in fact he hadn't booked a bus to brussels #smoeseurofailnumber647 so we were heading to the station with no transport. Arriving at gare de nord we quickly found an cafe with Internet and found a thalys train to brussels leaving in 4hours so another wait still having not slept since the day before we boarded the train to brussels. After ashort hour and a half or so we arrived in honestly the most derelict and deserted part of brussels nord to catch a tram to an even more deserted part of brussels nord, our tram stop being the last stop, we found our hotel after a bit of a walk checked in and crashed hoping to awake the next day for tomorrowland.
TOMORROWLAND
Tomorrowland... One cannot even begin to describe it... The most incredible ridiculous crazy stunning awe inspiring record breaking three days of our lives. In no way can you possibly prepare for your first tomorrowland. Watching videos on YouTube and songs the dj's play and you can listen to what other people have said about it but the second you step through those gates you honestly enter another world as corny as that sounds. Around 240,000 people a day go through the gates on the second day a world record was broken for the most amount of countries represented in one place at one time even more then the Olympics. I believe it was over 240 countries. The main stage a hub for the best dj's in the world and awhole crowd only there to listen to good music and muzz out to the vibes. The alcohol was flowing and meeting up with a number of friends from Sydney we were in for a good night. The first day saw the likes of otto knows, Freddie le grand Hardwell, Sebastian ingrosso, tiesto and to close Dimitri Vegas and like mike on the main stage. Everybody absolutely killed it and was an amazing taste of what was to come. The vibes and people we met everyday are something that will stick with not sam and myself till the day we die it will definitely be one of the stories to tell the grandchildren and if all we both talk about when we get back is tomorrowland you'll just have to go to understand where we are coming from.
The following day we were up a little later then expected but after only missing one bus because it drove past without picking us up we finally got another and were on our way. Being greeted in the exact same way as yesterday with the crowd and the atmosphere we started to drink for another heavy hitting day of house music. The mainstage and super you and me stages were the two on the agenda for today with laid back Luke tommy trash as well as knife party axwell avicci and armin van buuren ripping it up on the decks. Around 12pm halfway through van buurens set a storm broke out and it started pouring with rain. Where the belgiums initiated storm prevention techniques which sounded like cannons and we later found out that they were essentially firing a mixture of gases into the atmosphere in order to break up the clouds and somehow and some way they actually worked within ten minutes the clouds had dispersed and it was back on.
The third day we awoke to another thunderstorm so instead of braving it decided to have a couple hours more sleep having checked there was no one we desperately wanted to see playing. Arriving for our final day of tomorrowland we decided to go harder then we have before and tried to get to the front of the crowd but after realising it would be harder to break into a bank then that crowd we retreated to a more comfortable area about halfway between the front and the back. Another storm ensued and again the Belgians stopped it starting to really like these Belgians and their weather prevention techniques. It finally turned to night and David guetta vs nicki Romero vs afrojack jumped on the decks and everybody went crazy knowing that Steve aoki was about to jump on the decks to close off this amazing festival.
Steve aoki... Number 1 dj in the world zen master as Smoe called Him during the night did not disappoint at all intact he exceeded expectations and blew everybody away. Jumping on the decks he played new and old aswell as unreleased tracks with afrojack calling their duo afroki was the most incredible thing I have ever seen ever. He absolutely closed the festival like nobody else could and by ending it ended the most amazing 3 days of our lives and the start of the post tomorrowland depression which would ensue.
James's diet during tomorrowland for the 3 days:
- dominos pizza
- 1 slice of pizza at tomorrowland
- 1 piece of sushi
- 1 burger
- 1 fries
- some grapes
- a plum
- 3 red bull energy shots
- a ridiculously enormous amount of alcohol
Sam's diet during tomorrowland for the 3 days:
- dominos pizza
- sushi at tomorrowland
- some grapes
- 7 pieces of sushi
- a couple of plums
- 3 redbull energy shots
- 1 burger
- a ridiculously enormous amount of alcohol
And thus ends the Tomorrowland entry and hopefully were not too sad when we arrive in amsterdam however it is very likely we will be.
