Two days in Washington is a perfect amount of time, any more and I think you would run out of things to do. Our accommodation is a great location, booked through Air BnB close enough to walk to the monuments, but in a quiet area.
We stared our first day exploring heading on down to the monuments, and soon discovered that we are both rubbish at reading maps. After a bit of walking we saw a large tour group who were trying to enter a closed off area, we asked there security guard what was in there he gave us a shocked look and told us it was the White House. At that moment he was aloud to open the closed off section and we got to see one of the world's most famous buildings, alot smaller than it looks on television and we later discovered it was the back, not the front.
We then went down to reflection pool, the famous water Forest Gump ran through chasing after Jenny, which lead the Lincon memorial, probably the place that had the most wow factor for me. We checked out the National Air and Space museum and then both hit a wall and called it a day.
Day two started with a shopping spree at Pentagon shopping center and tried Taco Bell. We then went to Arlington National Cemetery and saw JFK grave.
After that we went to Georgetown for more retail therapy. While walking there poor Sarah's lunch had after effects and we almost had a Charlotte Sex in the City moment. We tried the famous Georgetown cupcakes which were amazing. We ended the day off back in our neck of the woods and had dinner at Matchbox, thankfully we knew only to order entrée sizes as the serve wad massive but so good, on the way there Sarah was offered digits from some random wanting to hook up later. Next stop New York Baby
