Longest drive of the trip from Austin Texas to Carlsbad New Mexico 11hours so we did not arrive I til 9pm to our lovely cabin literally in the middle of the desert! The drive consisted of driving on the longest straight road EVER in the middle of the desert!imagine of you took a wrong turn!!!
The next day we went to Carlsbad cave which was in the middle of the cave mountains!!! Pretty cool to see and to be in new Mexico!! Proper hill billy here with not much to see but desert and restaurants where you park up and they bring the food to your car!!!
Then we head to Roswell which is a small town in the desert where 2 people claimed they saw a spaceship crash about 40 years ago. Nothing much there, just a small museum full of newspaper cuttings of the event and shops with alien tshirts and alien dolls!!!!!
Now another long drive to Santa Fe through another never ending straight road through the desert...
