The final blog on the final day of our travels!!
Our last two trips before going home have been great. Easter Island was a lovely place, very laid back with tasty seafood and a lovely sea view from our hotel room and it was nice to back in some warm sunshine as it was getting a little cold where we had been. The trips around the island to see the moai were very interesting. All the ones we saw standing had been rebuilt and restored as all the moai had been knocked over in the past due to fighting amongst the islanders, but they were still imposing and mysterious. One of the most intersting sites was where they made the statues before transporting them. This was at the side of a volcanic crater and as they were unfinished or half buried these ones had been left alone in their original state and not damaged by the fighting. The island itself had a very rugged coastline and the landscape was very similar to the English countryside with gentle hills and green fields but with the odd volcanic peak.
Iguazu falls were thoroughly spectacular! We hope our pictures manage to do them justice! We visited both the Brazilian and Argentinian side of the falls and were able to get really close to the water both above the falls and infront of them - needless to say we got very wet a few times! The power of the water was amazing as there was more than twice as much as normal due heavy rainfall in Brazil over the last week just before we got there.
Tonight is our last night and we are off to a tango show with a three course meal and as much drink as you like - hurrah!!
See you soon!
