I arrived in Morelia on saturday after almost three weeks in the states. I am living with the Rodriguiz-Bautista family. They are wonderful. Lucy & Victor are the parents, who are both very patient with my lack of spanish skills. They have three boys. The middle one is studying medicine at the same hospital where I will have my internship. We have talked a little about medicine. It is great to have somone that can clarify my questions. The oldest son is studying in Paris and will return sometime in may. I saw pictures of him today and he is muy guapo!!
The food has been wonderful. Lucy is a great cook. The family eats together everyday at 3. All the food is prepared with fresh ingredients. There are tons of fruits and veggies. Nothing can compare to fresh tortillas.
I started language school on monday, which consists of four hours a day; two hours of grammar and two of conversation. I have two wonderful teachers. Today we went to the market and talked about food. I learned a lot of need words and got to try a bunch of foods. It was a blast.
Morelia is a beautiful old colonia city. My house is right in the center and is a short walk to most things. The school and the gym are only 5 minures away. There is also a park nearby that has a skate park and dirt jumps for BMX. Morelia is a university town so there are lots of young people and lots of things going on. I joined a gym which has spin, kickboxing and aerobics classes. The spin class this morning kicked my butt.
The weather is absolutely wonderful. Sunny and hot everyday. No rain right now, but I guess it rains everyday during summer. More to come....
