My last day in Varadero. Got my french toasts for breakfast again and received a phonecall from Alexis! Agreed to meet up with him in Havana...
Got my bus and met a british (indian) man who came to Cuba just for the women. He had a sort of midlifecrisis. He was really amusing and I enjoyed talking with hime on the bus. Usually I prefer to sit by myself and listen to music... Found a casa particulares on the Malecone. On the 7th floor with a nice view over centro habana.
Went out to meet Alexis. He was there waiting for me and we went to his sisters house. It was one of theese old cuban housings with all the electrical wires in the hall and each family lived in a tiny space! He showed me all his paperworks for immigrating to France. He met a girl a few years ago and they got married last December. I also met the fantastic husband of Alexis sister! A cool, relaxed and smiling man which apparently always smokes cigars. They had to children and the youngest one was a nut! Funny though... We ate and went out to Parc Central. There were screens showing Industriales (Havana) playing Santiago! The parc was packed with people and I got stunned again over the atmosphere in Cuba! There are no place similar! The music, the parties, everything!
The next day I spent with Alexis. We strolled the streets doing all kinds of cuban everyday stuff which I love! I got to try the cuban bicycling-way for girls, we ate ice cream, chatted to people in the streets, relaxed on the Malecone and no one talked to me! Fantastic! In the evening he found a cuban paladre (privat restaurant) for me and I had my cheapest meal so far! After, we went to Parc Central again and strolled the streets...The electricity was down in the whole of cento Habana and he didn't want me to walk up the stairs by myself...we waited and waited for my casa oweners to accompany me.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for Mexico and I will probably never see him again...
