Cathy's Magical Adventure!
Only a few days until home - boo hoo!!! Tried changing my flight but all flights were full so can't stay an extra week like I wanted! Thailand has been different to how I expected it, so glad we're out of Bangkok! Me & Vicky were both really looking forward to the night train but it was horrendous, really dirty and grimey and hot, just sleeping in your own sweat plus it was so noisy and rickety!! Was delayed too so took us about 16 hours of hell travelling form 5pm until 9am! Koh Sok was absolutely beautiful - had double beds in our jungle hut overlooking the river and the jungle/rainforest (not sure exactly) It rained pretty much the whole time but was still amazing - the restaurant was like a treehouse and there was only our group staying there - the views were just amazing! On our first night the owners took us to this remote temple where all the monkeys live and they came out to play and we fed them bananas and seeds - they were so adorable! We also visited the national park where we did a trek probably about 4 or 5km, was so hot though! Once we got to the river we all swam at the bottom of this waterfall which was so refreshing - not ideal walking back with soaking clothes though. Everyone from our group went tubing down the river that afternoon but the water was a bit too choppy for my liking plus I'd already done it in Fiji. Next stop was Koh Samui - we went on the pinkest coach in the world - pink carpets, pinks seat, pink frilly curtains - it was like Barbie had exploded in there! Our resort at Koh Samui was pretty nice - was right on the beach and had a pool. Our tour guide Pun Pun tried putting us off gong to the full moon party at Koh Pangnan but we all went anyway. Had to get a speedboat across to the island and it was TERRIFYING!!The water was so rough and the drivers were deliberately smacking down on the waves and tipping the boat - we thought we were going to die, i was nearly in tears!! The second we got off the boat though it was so worth it - the beach was huge and filled with fluorescent banners and fire throwers - it was amazing! The beach is lined with all different bars and music and everyone was just chilling out on the sand or dancing - we spent most the time dancing to drum & bass, so funny. We found this man selling trays of glow in the dark fluorescent paint for 40 Baht (about 50p) and painted each other (see photos for the final designs!) Drink was really cheap - you bought a small bottle of vodka & redbull and they filled it into a bucket (like for making sandcastles) and just stuck a load of straws in! Was really handy for carrying around and only cost about 3 pound a bucket what a bargain!! There was so many people, about 10,000 and the atmosphere was amazing - lots of boy talent too!! It was such a fabulous night and I'll never forget it! The boat back was a bit of a mission, had to wade out into the sea and got soaked and everyone was scrambling to get on the speedboats, was so worth it though!!! Didn't really do much on Koh Samui, just relaxed on the beach and had a massage - had a gorgeous dinner on the beach with the girls one night sittng on the floor to eat which was lovely then did a bit of shopping in the touristy part - glad we weren't staying there - where we were was more secluded! We got a boat over to Koh Tao and the water was seriously rough - everyone was petrified, people were screaming and there was water coming in, they cut the engine off when it got to rough and we just had to ride it out, smacking down on the waves like you wouldn't believe!! Scary as s***t! Koh Tao is beautiful - got our own rooms with king size beds but me & Vicky being wimps so ended up sharing didn't want to be on our own. The beach here is stunning - this is what I imagine Thailand to be like!! Everyone went on a snorkelling tour yesterday - took a boat the whole way round the island, stopped at about 3 or 4 sights, saw some beautiful coloured fish and coral - got an underwater camera so should be some good pics and some funny ones of me & Vicky posing under the water! We stopped at these two islands which ar joined by a spit of sand so you can walk between the two - absolute paradise! Saw some tiny kittens, small enough to fit in the palm of you hand! The island had little hut built into the hills with rickety wooden walkways and briges connecting them - looked like something from a fairy tale, like Peter Pan or something!! Been eating dinner on the beautiful beach, its our last night before getting on the horrible nigh train again so everyone going out together for a wee party!! Everyone on our tour is lovely and we all get on well so its been loads of fun! Me & Vicky have already been planning next summer away!! See you all soon, peace out x x x
