At last I finally got here, after a 24hr flight!. Set off from Nottingham at 4.10 and took a National Express coach down to Heathrow. Picked up my flight to Dubai ok and 6 hrs later I was there, after an in depth discussion with an asian taxi driver from Peterborough! (who was putting the world to rights). Didn't see a lot of Dubai (just the inside of a very posh airport). There was loads of people there asleep on the very posh benches. I thought bloody tramps you can't get away from them!, but when I took a closer look, they all seem to be wearing gold bling!. Different class of tramp in Dubai. In Dubai it was a case of straight off the plane, through customs, go to your gate and then back on the same plane to Brunei. Manage to get my seat changed for the second leg of the flight (because the Tv in my seat didn't work!). Sat next to a lovely couple who were travelling onto Brisbane to visit there daughter. Landed in Brunei to beautiful sunshine and 30 degree temperatures. Had to wait for an hour in the departure lounge and got talking to Philip. He is 19 and had been travelling around Europe for 5 months with some friends. He had run out of money, so was on his way home to Darwin to work in an Iron Ore mine till he could go back to the UK. He gave me his mobile number and said meet up for a beer before I leave Darwin. May well do that!. Got off the plane at 4.30pm Oz time to 30 degree humidity. Phew its hot here!. Better than back home though!. Again got chatting to a Scottish guy called David who was meeting a friend at the airport. The 3 of us caught a taxi into Darwin, where we were all dropped off at our hostels. Mine is called Globetrotters. First impressions were this is not what I expected!. Was a little worried by what my room was going to be like!. It turned out to be ok. Nothing fancy, 4 bunkbeds and a bathroom. Its clean and tidy and best of all no spiders!. After I had unpacked, I went off to meet the 2 guys that I shared the taxi with!. So met up with David and David (lucky that because I am terrible remembering names). We spent a night of drinking wine/beer (they drunk beer of course) and exchanging stories etc. Finally got to bed at midnight!. First impressions of Oz is, very hot, but the people are so friendly. I really like the place already.
