It was a rough and short night with several of us not feeling too well. Waking up to rain did not help our moods. We were happy packing up, loading our car and leaving the volcano behind us in search for some beach, sun and fun in Tamarindo at the pacific side. We calculated almost 4 hours for the 190 km trip. Except a small stretch on the Interamericana Highway No. 1, it was all small little hole filled windy roads where one can drive an average of 50 km/hour...no wonder it takes ages to travel around! We stopped at Walmart in Liberia, out of curiosity to check their products, stacked up on water, chips and coke and arrived around 2 pm in surfers paradise. Our hotel is called Arco Iris - around 500m off the beach settled within other boutique hotels, small but clean and in our so much liked colonial style. Its owned by an american guy named Richard, we have the fastest internet ever, tv, airco, nice powerful hot showers. Funny how fast one forgets the small, for us spoiled Suizos so normal things. This trip reminds me often to my 6 months backpacking trip to Southamerica in 2002... and how different I see certain things now being married with kids.....
Anyway, we are happy to be at the water and the bustling beachtown vibe fits perfect with our moods. The sunset was picture perfect with low tide so we decided to hang out at a beach restaurant and have (another) early lunch. Elena is doing better but its starting with Alex now.
