It is very green and a bit neater up here in the Arenal area.... its more a highland feeling than "down" in the jungle of the east coast. We meet lots of French speaking families, some English, German and Dutch people... We left right after breakfast with our big H1 Hyundai rental car to visit the largest waterfall in the area. Nicely set up in a forest, you need to climb 500 steps down to swim carefully around the pond where the water comes down.Alex took his cam and he spent a long time hanging out in the river filming under water. We stopped in the town La Fortuna to have some Chicken sandwich and chocolate chip ice cream before heading back to our hotel. A local tourguide picked us and an English family of five from England up to experience a night walk in some local families backyard - a 15 hectare backyard full with frogs, insects, spiders, ants, snakes and other creepy creatures. It rained at the beginning, so we covered us with our super plastic rain-ponchos! I got jealous when the other group unpacked their army style rain cover. When Alex and Aurélie asked to hold a baby snake I felt a bit uncomfy but the giant bullet ants scared the s*** out of all of us... and the fact that one of the most dangerous (aggressive) snake (Fer-deLance) in all the Americas likes hanging out there too - we gladly only learnt after the tour... while enjoying a delicious home cooked meal by doña Maria, the wife of the farmer who keeps his land frog/spider/ant/snake friendly.
