Well, we finally made it!! But the turbulence did not do much to help with my dislike of flying but I must say the most impressive sight was flying over the caspian sea, late night early morning - just beautiful!!
Day 1 started off well. Train ride from Heathrow to where we are staying was pretty non eventful but I must say the housing out in the burbs is quite depressing and bleak but once in the heart of London - breath taking!!
Where we are staying in Bloomsbury is awesome - cheap, lovely staff, room whilst basic, is clean, everything works and close to transport - really really good!!
As Queenie had something going on and was considered a bank holiday we thought we would just stay away and do other tourist things so we trotted of to the Tower of London!! Very impressive and mind blowing to think buildings of that age are still standing. By the time we finished the tower, it was lunch time and we found this pub near the Tower Bridge called the pommelers inn. The bar tender was great and managed to find me a beer that I actually enjoyed - so my first pint was of John Smith Cream Flow - yum and I had a Mexican need burger with the best onion rings. Sean also enjoyed a pint or two - his first was an ale created for the queens jubilee - first one was called Adams diamond ale - rating - thumbs up, however his 2nd pint - the jubilee ipa didn't rate so highly and the fact that it was room temperature did not help!!! Room temperature went against convincing me it was a good idea to have!!
After lunch, we went to the HMS Belfast and had a look through - had to keep reminding Sean to keep ducking his head otherwise he would have been concussed on several occasions. we then wandered off to book our tickets to see Henry V at the Shakespere's Globe - sigh - fully booked :(
We then wandered off to the London dungeons - line was extremely long so maybe today we will try again!!
After that we decided to venture home. We passed the dominion theatre and bought tickets to we will rock you - awesome show!!! And we had dinner at a lovely place (Belgian) beautiful fresh food - will update name of cafe in next blog. Well until later, ciao
