Well after a long journey I made it! We arrived in Auckland at 5:30 am local time Wednesday. It is now 3:22am Thursday here, the time change is difficult to keep up with. Our flight was amazing except for a 1 hour period of rough turbulence just about over the International date line. I need to tell you in a nutshell - I don't like turbulence. Needless to say, I was glad to land safely. JP, Lucy, and her parents Helen and Clive met us after customs at the airport.
My first day was great. After checking in to our hotel and having a bit of breakfast, I took a walk around the city of Auckland with Debbie , had a delightful lunch with Lucy and her mom Helen down at the harbor and finished up again with dinner at a harbor restaurant as well. It was a bit overcast for the am but the sun came out for the afternoon and it was a great picturesque day. On my walk downtown i went to the cathedral where the wedding will be. A beautiful chuch built in 1842. There are a total of 10 of us here from the states for the nuptials. I'm glad to have been able to make the trip.
So for today we are going to take a hike and then later have dinner at Lucy's house as a group. Looking forward to another fine day and of course taking pictures. I will share more later.
This picture is looking back at the harbor (it's a stock photo). I will try to upload some pics as well later today.
