We are thankful to report that we have NOT been affected by this afternoon's 6.3 earthquake that has hit Christchurch pretty hard... We are sufficiently far away and the other side of the hills! However there are already a number of confirmed fatalities and Christchurch continues to go through a number of significant aftershocks - of particular note, the cathedral's steeple fell to the square below and the whole front of the church collapsed. A number of other large buildings have collapsed.
At our end, well the worst we can report is that it is cloudy and wet. We did however manage a long walk up Queenstown Hill Recreation Reserve - just over two hours, mostly up hill, but great views!
This afternoon we took a Skyline gondola ride up Ben Lomond Hill, and had a go at 3-wheel luge descent. Was great in the wet... well ok maybe would have been better on dry for a first time...
And then - we headed to a wine tasting place for a large cheese and salami platter, and of course a large selection of wines to sample! Great fun!

Denise Relieved to hear you are both safe and unaffected by yet another natural disaster. I hope it's not you two causing them... Everything fine and dandy in Jersey. Continue to have a great time and take care.
