A late start to the day and one that will, hopefully, solve a few problems with cameras, computers and other technology.
But the news is awful which does not help the start of the day. Chris used to work near Borough Market so, once again, it is close to home. I cannot comprehend the behaviour of some people. What is the point? Meryl engages in a conversation with a Dutch couple who are interested in the Brexit phenomena and she explains our viewpoint. Only idiots voted for it, not understanding the appalling consequences of their voting. With another election awaiting, against the promises of the 'leader' who, like the Brexit politicians lied and lied until the truly gullible believed what they said, and then changed their mind, one can but hope some voters understand the consequences of any vote that they make. Probably not if their brains as frozen solid by the winds from the east.
After that we cycled along the banks of the Loire, then southwards through the vineyards, or at least some vineyards to the south before returning after 21 miles of gently exercise. Its early days but I, and Meryl are happy with that amount after a winter of nothing but illness and little physically demanding challenges. Hopefully we can increase the volume and speed of the work over the next few weeks. Its mainly flat here but with one or two short climbs it challenges the legs and chests.
After the clouds and rain threats of yesterday, we had blue skies and sunshine, even though the temperature was cooler and fresher than Saturday. The camp site, which was notably fuller than we expected on arrival, has thinned out and by Monday will be deserted, except for the Dutch and English. The French end their holiday weekend and head home whilst we enjoy the quietness of the Loire for a few more days.
Wine has passed out lips in rather greater quantity than we planned. Leclerc provided some sampling including some bottles from local vignerons. In particular we sampled a delightful chenin white from a Nicolas Paget, which is just down the road. He also made a very drinkable red which may benefit from sometime in the cave. The label suggests between 5-10 years. We will continue to look; and taste!
