So the stress of getting here is over and we have arrived! Eight hours made for a very long plane ride but the kids did great and we arrived safely! The TSA officers didn't even search us or see us naked - as far as we know!
At the Munich airport we followed the signs in German to the baggage claim, the bathroom and the train ticket counter - all within a half hour of arriving. Either we are really good at traveling or this is an easy airport to navigate.
We got our bags and took the S8 train to the Herlenberger stop - no problem! Once we got off the train, we walked about a mile to the Meninger Hostel, which was surprisingly clean and family friendly.
We stored our bags in the luggage room and then ventured back out into the city until it was time to check into our room.
We took the train to the Marienplatz where we watched the famous Glockenspiel bells ring and the cuckoo clock characters dance! It was really cool coming up from the underground train to see all the beautiful old German buildings surrounding us.
We were all exhausted from no sleep but were able to walk around and try out the bakery, visit the Hofbrauhaus, walk through St Peter's Church and take in the sights at the Marienplatz.
At 3pm we returned to the hostel, checked into our room and took a much needed nap! It was 10am our time, which meant we pulled an all nighter and then some!
