It turned out that our scheduled 3 hour nap turned into a 17 hour sleep extravaganza...but we did luckily wake up at 3.30am to watch Chelsea Barcelona in our room live, that was awesome and so was Drogba's goal! Anyways when we woke up again at half 7, we all went down for some breakkie...i'm quite fussy so didn't really know what to expect lol. But luckily the restaurant catered for all and so decided to have a traditional americano breakfast (I had everything barr the eggs...don't do eggs, strange smell!) With our stomachs full we thought we'd try again at doing the whole tourist thing. Ended up being a quality day! We got talking to two thai lads who helped us out big time on where and what the best things to do were. They got us a tuk tuk and because it was some kinda National Buddha day everything was tax free and even cheaper than normal! We spent between 4 and 5 hours on the back of one of these tuk tuks, for 10 baht each (bit different to a 20 pound taxi back from a night out in Cambridge!) The tuk tuk drivers name was 'Kitty' and to be fair he was a leg(end)...we went to see loads of different buddhas, temples and even a few jewellery and suit shops. It was a real good experience.
When 'Kitty' dropped us off, we decided to go for another little swim (my bodys going to be a temple by the time I get back lol). After the workout, we thought it was time to sample the nightlife, so we showered, donned our favourite attire and slapped on a bit of brut (for the ladies) and headed out!! We started off down Ko Sang Road for a cheeky one where I saw Sailor (Goodys flatmate) who told us where the best place to go later would be. Whats all that about seeing someone you know in the middle of Bangkok?? All 3 of us then got a taxi to Pat Pong Market...it was HUGE!! There was so many stalls all selling many different things (My Mum and Auntie Elizabeth would have been in heaven lol). The best thing was that around the outside of the market were many bars, most being seedy bars where dozens of thai girls would be dancing on a big stage in small bikinis. We all resisted for a while and had a few bottles of beer in a 'normal' bar, but after a quick monsoon and lots of alcohol flowing in the body, we couldn't fight it anymore...we went for it!! As soon as we entered one of these fine establishments, six thai girls eyes lit up and attaked us, and then ushered us over near the bar where their hands were in overdrive lol! It was like a normal night in Cambridge! Really? We were in over our heads! Anyways after 5-10 minutes I needed 2 make a quick but quiet exit, not saying 2 much but I was talking a good game but not delivering. After escaping the bikini thais, we headed back to Gullivers down Ko Sang Road.
By the time we got to Gullivers, it was pretty busy and after a few more cheeky bottles of beer we all started throwing some shapes on the dancefloor. Chirpsing was done by me and Rooms while Milsy headed back early to the Hotel, but not before he sampled one of those o so lovely thai currys...regretted it in the morning though. Me and Roomy then went to another bar, with our two new friends intact where we stayed until half 5-6. During this time there was a bit of a royal rumble outside between the westerners and the thais It was very one sided...lets put it that way! After that all died down...and we had said a few goodbyes, we headed back to the Hotel to catch some z'z. Crazy Day!!
