OH MY GOD! HOW COULD I FORGET?!!

On the way from Kampong Cham to the homestay we stopped in the small town of Suok. Getting off the bus we were greeted with a myriad of unusual deepfried delights - baby chickens on skewers, crickets, cockroaches and the piece d'resistance; deep fried tarantulas!! (zoom in on the pic if you can't see - mmm tasty!)

As big as your palm and fried to a crisp they didn't look as nasty as i had imagined! Starting at the legs, I nibbled my way through almost 8 appendages, but after one bite into the thorax - right thru the brain - I decided that was enough. Matt from our group finished off the whole thing, abdomen with eggs and all! Blargh!

Mostly just crunchy and salty, it wasn't that bad! Don't think I'll be wok tossing huntsmen at home in a hurry tho!!

Today we took a snorkel trip out to Bamboo Island. Beautiful beaches and some pretty little fishes over the coral. Decided to relax for a change and just sit on the beach instead of trekking thru the jungle - did my new zen mediatation technique of stacking stones beneath swaying palms - if you can't chill that way then you're a lost cause!

Enjoying the laidback pace here but mentally preparing myself for the onslaught of Phnom Penh - passed thru briefly and it was mad! Having a lot of fun and really trying to just take it all in rather than just shooting it with my camera.
