So after our wonderful experience at the tiger temple we found that there were also some nice waterfalls around the area to explore.... again we thought we would do it on our own - I mean how hard could it be??? We set off to explore around midday to find some waterfalls & hopefully see some scenery on the way. We passed the tiger temple and continued riding, following what seemed to be signs to the waterfall. We seemed to be on the motorbike for what seemed hours! - We eventually came to an army border crossing and a sign saying 'Bon Voyage'! Which to me didn't seem to be a reassuring sign? We turned around and headed back on ourselves (with the army men looking at us funny) - only later to discover that we were heading into Burma and this was the border crossing town (mum don't panic - we didn't actually enter the Burma war zone!) lol.....We eventually found one waterfall but then Colin wanted to go and find the River Kwai Death Railway- as I was glancing over his shoulder looking at the fuel gauge realising we only had half a tank left! - we turned off the main road (which had all the petrol stations situated on it) following the signs (which didn't indicate the distance of the death railway) we continued to drive heading down a very steep mountain (think of the oblivion @ Alton towers - with no safety belt). The road went on for 10 miles. It suddenly started to get quite dark, we decided to head back up the steep oblivion mountain climb where the bike didn't seem to want to move. I glanced over Colin's shoulder at the fuel gauge it dropped to past empty and we still had so far to drive to get onto the main road again. The hill was too steep for the bike and we had to get off & walk - as Colin pushed the bike (at this point I was almost in tears - not having eaten too which was not good!) and the wild monkey sign (almost like a monkeys crossing sign beware - great!) as I got off the bike was not helping with my distress!! - We managed to find a shop and got to a petrol station - trying to translate that we needed fuel to a Thai person was hard work as we were with local farm folk!......... We finally got some fuel and found the main road back to Kanchanaburi (god were we glad to see the main road again)...... looking back now it was an adventurous day!
