So, the picture is the plane at Hong Kong airport which took us from there to Shanghai.

We landed about 12noon local time and were met by Alice and our driver. We also met up with a couple who are doing our tour as well, Bill & Joy from Perth. We checked into the Radisson Blue Shanghai Hong Quan. It is beeeeauuuutiful!! Marble floors, jade carving in the lobby (will post a photo when I get one), bath tub in the room.

The weather is s***ty - overcast and spitting, but it is warm. Mum and I got a taxi to Old Town this afternoon and wandered quite a lot looking at the architecture and the stalls full of those little Chinese novelties and bits and pieces you see on eBay all the time at 200 for $1.

Our first full day is tomorrow. Meeting our guide Simon at 9.00am and then visiting Nanjing walking district, The Bund and the Shanghai Museum.
