I think i have accepted that i am not a blogging person. Getting internet access anywhere has been the equivalent of drawing water from a stone, so i sort of gave upp trying to make daily updates once i arrived in Hong Kong, coupled with the fact that i have been constantly up and about (shopping and site seeing).
OK, so my visit to HK has been another eventful trip. Firstly i arrived from Auckland after a 10 hour flight and checked into the most amazing hotel i have ever stayed in, in my life (courtesy of the IET). It is equivalent to what in the movies, honest. In fact i was even upgraded to a junior suite. when i got into the room (about 3 times the size of my flat!) i almost passed out. I took some pictures on my Iphone and would try to update it to the site soon.
My first day was a bit dull i slept for hours, browsed around a nearby mall and went for dinner - its a good thing the shops round here are open till 10pm, you never know when you would need that new handbag or shoes.
Anyways, on the second day, thursday, i did a bit more browsing round the area - its amazing how busy the city is, and i thought lagos was busy.. Lagos hasn't got anything on HK Kowloon. i also went to the IET branch in downtown HK for my presentation. The presentation went well the YPs seemed fairly interested in what i had to say, even asked some interesting questions. I was also taken to dinner by the group (how sweet!) we went to a local chinese restaurant which served some brilliant stuff - there were no shark fins or snakes in this one. Two of the YPs then offered to take me for drinks in the city, and i must say i was pleasantly surprised about the night life, the town literally comes alive in a different way. And there are so many brilliant bars to chose from one of the ones we visited had an amazing view of the Victoria Harbour. Oh i forgot to mention the weather is lush round this time of the year, about 30 degrees (just my sort of place) so most of the bars had outdoor areas as well as air conditioned indoor areas.
The YPs were very kind, asked me what my plans were for the next 3 days i was in the city to which i replied i have non. i actually realised i did not do much research on tourist attractions before i embarked on my trip. i guess its partly due to a chunk of the trip being free and having a bit of money in the pocket, i really did want to 'freestlye' this trip. The guys wrote a number of places/attractions that are must see areas.. malls, landmarks, shows e.t.c so i've got more than enough planned for the next couple of days.
