We woke up this morning and Mel, Katie and I had epic plans to go kayaking! Exciting! We got our swimming stuff on and were about to leave the door when suddenly the hostel worker shouted 'you check out now!?!'. I was really confused as yesterday we booked on until Wednesday. She kept proclaiming that no one spoke to her, which was blatant lies as I did myself. After talking to the manager and after very poor customer service, we packed up our stuff and headed around to carpe diem for breakfast. Carpe diem had no room which was mildly irritating as we spend most of our time there eating anyway! After breakfast we headed to the stone bridge after checking it out on trip advisor. Jesse the owner kindly greeted us and showed us to our room. She even gave us pears she grew in the garden! The only downside to the hostel is there is no air conditioning in our room, and I can't describe how vital that is in china!
After we got packed we arranged kayaking for half one. The deal was 160 yuan for 3 hours on the river. We got picked up and carted over about half an hour away to a secluded part of the river. We got our life jackets on and got in! The weather was beautiful and I was excited, but also a little worried as my am strength is pretty horrendous! It turned out to be lovely for the first hour. The sun was shining and the water buffalo were out paddling alongside us; pretty amazing! After about an hour and 50 minutes we were absolutely wrecked. Mel had blisters on her hands and my neck and shoulders were in mega pain! It was worth it though as kayaking along the li river is an experience! We finished up and got out, and headed back to our transport.
After kayaking I went to the bank and withdrew some money then we headed for some food. We went to a bookshop and had a look then headed home. I skyped dad which was great and saw kyle in the background too. :) As soon as we got Into bed the heat hit us in the face. Everyone had the covers on the floor. The heat was unbearable and we kept having to drink water in the night due to how much we were sweating out! Not a good nights sleep for sure!
