This morning when I woke up I said to Mel i'd like to visit the doctor to get my stomach checked out just because of the ongoing feeling of total spazmoidness. I headed to the woman on the desk at the hostel and tried to explain I hadn't been feeling great before I left and I'd like to see a doctor. It was hard trying to Convey what was wrong with me to her, at first she thought I had just munched some dodgy Chinese food. After a bit of debate I managed to tell her otherwise. She gave me the directions and me and Mel hopped on the bus. We waited the five stops and ended up in the a****** of no where! Nightmare. After about an hour of dandering around we finally found the peoples hospital! Now this hospital trip was fantastic; as far as hospital trips go. It was really an advantage being a westerner! Probably because they know I have money!
As soon as I explained I was English speaking and needed to see the doctor, I was taken out of the overpopulated waiting room and escorted round to a building just one minute away. The doctor brought me straight through and I explained my IMPENDING DEATH. He laid me down and felt the pressure in my stomach, listened to it and asked my symptoms. He was fairly convinced I'm just having some digestive issues that 'should be fine soon'. Me, being the hypochondriac that I am, only wanted to know 'is it anything serious?' Haha. Now normally I am insane about my health full stop, but being away from home makes It more difficult as I don't have dad to constantly reassure me I'm not dying! He prescribed me some pills, I paid 100 yuan and was out of there! Job done.
We got the bus back and chilled in the hostel, me being in a sort of euphoric state from not being told I must fly home immediately ha. I finished off my book 'the beach' and really found it the most bizarre book I've ever read. It was great though. It reminded me of lord of the flies and I think it might be a slight rip off. It's based on several of the islands I will be heading to in Thailand so I'm pretty excited about it now! Whilst reading a Chinese guy walked in to our room. Chinese names are ridiculously hard to pronounce so he said his name is shortened to 'bolt', which I thought was cool as he liked to hike and go mountain climbing. He was a decent guy, he was also a Buddhist who studies biology at university. What was interesting is that because of his beliefs he doesn't want to test on animals, so he is hoping to get into a university in America to study biological statistics and data. Nice!
Mel and I left for food and to further explore Muslim street. The place is very busy with loads of that tasty street food! Boke! After picking up some Sushi we headed back to the hostel where we met bolt. He was sitting beside a guy who had just checked Into our room. His name was seb. He just got done teaching English in Beijing and he is doing some travelling before he heads home. We sat and had a few drinks together and chatted about all sorts of stuff! After a couple of beers we decided to head across from the hostel to another busier hostel! Good logic in our group! I think we have decided that our last night in places will also be the party night. It makes zero sense as we usually have a mega long train the next day but it is hilariously funny. The hostel was pumping and we found our train friend paul again! Us three joined Paul and I bought a round, then Paul did, then the drinking games were out! Seb taught us how to play this dice game that EVERYONE in china plays . It ended up being amazing and we played for hours. It was such a good night. I think in total there were 3 rows of alcohol and in each row there were 12 shots. If you lose a game, you drink! I think Mel had about 12 overall! (Losing on purpose ;) ).My bluffing skills are pretty perfected from Texas Holdem so luckily I only had about 7. Still a lot for not a heavy drinker Eugh!!
Before we knew it was 3am. The bar had closed but the waitress mikki had grew fond of us as she speaks pretty good English and can communicate well! She gave us some more drinks so we could chill out. Next thing I know there is a guy from Mexico and a guy from Brazil sitting at the table. Mexico guy had been to Belfast and said it was alright, but he Didnt understand the history. Rather hilariously, I tried to explain! This is coming from someone who thought Sinn Fein was a person and Gerry Adams was a character in eastenders! I know Kyle would have laughed his ass off at me. I know loads now thanks to his teaching so I hope I gave a pretty good account. I was getting bored of that conversation, checked my watch and it was 4am!!! Ridiculous considering I have an alarm set for 8am :/ Tomorrow will not be fun. Seb suggested 'staying up all night' and I swiftly put an end to that nonsense.
