another windy day but this is the third day with sun-quite amazing! Today's tour was mainly in the area of Lake Myvatn-the largest duck breeding area in the world. Our first stop was Dimmuborgir which means "dark castles" in English, a field of strange lava shapes and many trails. The leaves were changing and it was quite beautiful and other worldly. the photo is taken after a triumphant climb up many rocks. Then it was on to the Bird Museum. Who knew that the Arctic Tern flies from Iceland to Antarctica every year and in in its lifetime it flies the equivalent of to the moon and back?
After lunch it was on to Godafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods" it was quite a magnificent waterfall and quite accessible - there were hoards of people because a Princess cruise ship was in port.
Then it was on to Akureyri, the Capital of the North. We had a wonderful dinner overlooking the waterfront.
