bonjour!!!
oh man - i'm getting that feeling the days are flying so fast!!! so lets wrap up Tuesday & Wednesday
Tuesday - the day of Deboirs jet lag reckoning
OK, if one is on holiday, and they have made a 24+ hour journey to get here, one should NOT be setting an alarm for SIX. THIRTY. A. M. not thrilled, impressed or coherent. But we had a reservation that required an 8.45 check in so had to arise & make one presentable. Do you think I'm on time -I'm not on time for anything. For someone so efficient, organised & practical, strangely punctuality escapes me. Maybe its becuase I'm just so good at f**king around.
OKs so pop into locale cafe for a Noisette - did anyone know that macchiato in France is a Noisette?? Those with a bit of French up their sleeve know that is actually Hazlenut - who would've thought huh. But that is my drink de jour each morning + a lil pastry - see corresponding photo's.
So Giverny - I think Miss Fi last time did a DIY train journey with a self arranged tour, props to Miss Fi because our experience, a bit BS on the organisation front. We turned up for a 1/2 day tour which we were TOLD it was a full day tour - we were in shock, 8 hours in Giverny, WTF will we do?! After some swift negotiation we made a deal that honoured our original agreement - thats the very summarised version of events.
So Monets garden - the lily pond, willow trees & bridge, absolutley as expected & you can totally see the beauty, muse & inspiration in all the famous pieces that any Impressionist enthusiast appreciates. The reflections, the peace, the serenity of nature is everywhere & without any effort, it is captured in the photographs.
The only challenge like in any of these locations is capturing images without tourists - not an easy task. Its a matter of focusing the shot, standing waiting & then clickin when some lame slow-ass has finally moved on.
Monets home - the most wonderful aspect of that was seeing the photograph of Claude, in his home with the actual layout of the room in exact assembly.
All in all our experience was wrapped up in about 90 mins - I come back to the WTF would we have done for eight hours. Part of our urgency was plans to visit a brasserie with a top rating in the Tourisme Paris guide - at 29€ for the plat de jour formulae - it better be.
Please see photographs for review of such meal & brasserie & apologies for mostly eating the meal before taking a pic - I couldn't spare the minute to get the camera out of bag and delay stuffing ones gob.
so what happened after that meal - I ker-ASHED with a capital C. Straight home, to bed at 4 pm into a very fitful & desperate sleep - that jet lagged finally whipped my ass. What happened when I woke up - the absolutley dying need for a crepe with nutella, cream with a chaser of Kronenburg. Doesn't everyone wake up from an afternoon nap feeling that way?
Please also refer to photographs of said meal which was enjoyed le celebataire in the Tuileries - really, my favourite tourist place in Paris.
DISCLAIMER
I am most aware my spelling, grammar & general accuracy of content is not bang on but fair take - I'm 1/3 stuffed, 1/3 getting confused with the switch in language & usually over 1/3 past a very big glass of red when posting.........life is so hard right now.
