Deb's Adventures
Chaguaramas, Trinidad
We've been in Trinidad just over a week getting work done on the boat before we head off to Venezuela.. and it has rained almost non stop every single day! It's raining right now in fact! I have to say I wont be too upset when we're leaving... there doesn't seem to be a lot on offer here, I had to use a picture of Trinidad and Tobago's national bird because Trinidad is just too much of a dump! There is apparently one nice beach called Maracus and we were going to go there today if the rain ever stops, but no luck yet! Most of the island is rainforest so i'm sure there are plenty of cool places to see, and hikes etc., but it's too dangerous to go anywhere! It's one of the most dangerous places in the Caribbean with murders and kidnappings happening all the time, because there is just so much poverty. Port of Spain is the capital and to give you an idea of what it's like, we went to a sushi bar the other night and during the minute walk from the car to the restaurant, we got chased down the road by some old local guy on crutches who hardly balance, shouting at us something undecipherable.. it was so bizarre! I wish I was in England in the Sunshine :| I can't believe I just said that!
