Well we took the ferry from Nelson to Wellington, both of which aren't really worth visiting, as really didn't have anything to offer. The ferry crossing was very rough and took an extra long hour!!!! Got to the North Island and its still raining and quite cold. Camp at a capervan site to get some power to heat our camper, brrrrrrrrr.
