'Debbie and Max's Travels'
Today we met up with two of Danny's Japanese friends called I and Sensi. Its was sunny and extremely hot, we went and had a quick look around Shibuya. This is quite a trendy place in Japan and was packed with young Japanese people. It had a slight feel of New York to it with lots of shops. The high buildings are covered with Neon signs and the most striking features are two five storey tall TV screens. We met by Hachiko the dog statue, which is a tale about a dog returning to the same spot each evening to greet his master from work. Unfortunately one day his master died at work and the dog waited patiently for 9 years until he died himself. We then took the subway to Asakusa, a really nice more traditional market road, with lots of souviners for sale. Lanterns line the street which continues onto the gatehouse and ends at a seventeenth-century shinto shrine and its beautiful gardens. Around the temple food stalls selling chicken on sticks and corn on the cob cover the square with is dotted with statues of Buddha. To the east of the shrine a five storey Pagoda towers over the square. We then walked back to the subway and travelled to a park to go to a Japanese Zoo, unfortunately this was shut so we made our way home. At Danny's flat a Japanese girl was making Sushi and she showed us how it was prepared and lets us have some. It was very nice.
