Well, its another night in Cannes thanks to the Eurorail strike and I do mean THANKS!
I have done and seen all I had planned and each time I do something else, I learn of something I hadn't planned on.
Today I walked the promenade, toured the old city aboard the petite train (best $10 tour ever) and enjoyed a traditional French dinner at a restaurant named (translation) "Wheelbarrow of our grandmother".
The menu was set, which saved me the trouble of translating odd phrases from a French menu. It was a 4 course meal complete with champagne, wine, shot of frozen vodka (to remove the taste of the 2nd course) and desert. There was pate, salad, salmon, duck breast with honey, potatoes and white cake with pineapple.
I have been hypnotized by the French people, their food, their language and have even learned to enjoy their tiny little coffees.
In my few days here (I am reminded it has been only a few days when I look at my phone), the stereotype of the rude french people has been removed from my mind.
I will travel to the island of St.Marguerite tomorrow (houses the prison which is famous for holding the Man In the Iron Mask) and spend any free time at the beach and markets.
I will then move on to Montpellier and Figueres for one night each before spending three nights in Barcelona.
