Today I left Luang Prabang on a sleeper bus and started a 24 hours trip to Kunming. A sleeper bus is where you sleep on a berth instead of sitting in a seat. I am told this form of transport is very popular with Chinese.
The trip going through the mountain of Laos was one of the worst road I ever been on. The mountain was very steep and the road was very windy as well as very narrow. At times the road was so narrow the bus or a truck would have to stop to let the other past.
The Chinese was supposed to have paved the road from Luang Prabang, if they did, it badly need of repairs.
However about 20 km from the border they were working on the road and from there on the road was much better.
Once we cleared custom I was able to enter China and continues the trip to Kunming. You could tell that we have entered China as the road was so much more comfortable to travel on as is was nice and smooth and the main road was 4 lanes wide. The building all looked so much better and was colourful comparing to Laos. We continued the trip overnight on the sleeper bus as we headed to Kunming.
