Today we reached Minnesota, the tenth State we have visited on our tour. After arriving at our hotel, we went down to the Mississippi River to see if it was in flood. It was very high, but well within it's banks. The current problems in the Northern US are with the Missouri rather than the Mississippi. The photos are of the dam at St. Cloud.
The journey today was almost all on Interstate 94, a 70mph four-lane highway. We had a little more traffic today, but nothing to be concerned about. The landscape in Minnesota was largely flat, with many small lakes on both sides of the road. The farms & fields are huge. Many of the farms are over 2,000 acres & some are more than 30,000 acres. The farm machines are sized to suit & today we did see some work going on in the fields. On other days, although the fields have been nicely tilled, we did not see much movement. There are some hedges, or rather lines of trees, perhaps planted as windbreaks near the farmhouse or ranch. Other than that, largely unremarkable.
Tomorrow, we move into Wisconsin.
