177 days, 6 countries and a substantial beer belly later I have come to the end of my trip: Starting in New Zealand, two months I spent there kickstarting my trip, and it was amazing. My vote goes to New Zealand as the best place I have been to, my favourite part of my trip. I would happily return there and do it all again, meeting hundreds of people and thousands of Swedes, bungy jumping off stupid heights and sky diving out of pink airplanes. Not one day went by that I could say I was bored, besides when I was struck down with illness. My farmstay with the Annan family helped me bounce back and finish my New Zealand tour on a high note. Not really keen to leave but excited and a bit nervous to move onto my next destination I was off to Fiji. Paradise is the only possibly way to summarise this place up. I was very lucky with the weather and the people I met which contributed hugely but scuba diving with bull sharks and spear fishing daily probably contributed in making that an awesome two weeks. Next was Australia and the reunion of the boys from home. As we toured the east coast, only a sliver of the country but a huge task in itself, we experienced dominating the swell as we surfed at every place we could and by night drinking at every place we could. Tasting the soul destroying prices for a traveller but still spending absurd amounts on cheap alcohol. Bronzing more and more as we went further and further up the coast we finished in Cairns and the party hostel of Gilligans, the rainforest bungy site and the great barrier reef, a great send off as some of the party went home. Onto Asia, a slightly intimidating prospect and the madness started as soon as we left the safety of the airport and got into our pink pimped out taxi. We headed for Bangkok right in the middle of the Thai new year Songkran festival. Absolute carnage set the tone for the rest of Thailand as we toured the place for the most part on motorbikes if we hadn't consumed too many poisonous buckets of whiskey and rum the nights before. Two full moon parties, scuba diving with a whale shark, a night and wreck dive, three lost bank cards, over 100 insect bites, several cases of sunburn and three Thai females later we entered Laos and Cambodia. Floating down a fast flowing river, intoxicated beyond belief and covered in spray paint, we enjoyed tubing in Laos after somehow making it there via the mountainous death roads. Cambodia provided a nice finish to the country list as we paraded the country still reeling from the insanity of Thailand and Laos. Restoring a miniscule portion of our health through the temples of Angkor Wat, the beaches of Sihanoukville and through our handline fishing outing I then returned to what has been my hometown for the last three months, Bangkok, knowing that I had come to the end of my tour. Sitting here writing this is a really odd feeling as is looking back on all the photos and blogs I have put up over the last six months. I hope I have entertained you in my writing and given you a glimpse of what I have experienced for the last half a year on the other side of the world.
Over and out.
