My penultimate blog takes place back in the town of Siem Reap having just made the trip from the capital Phnom Penh. It was nice to be back in a city after living in very basic towns over the last week. After arriving quite late we stumbled upon a bargain curry and settled down to a very decent feed that had us fall straight to sleep once we eventually got to bed after a tiring last few days. Up early we headed to the famous killing fields and prison where only 30 years ago all hell broke loose in Cambodia as 3 million people, 1 in every 4 were brutally killed. We visited this graveyard and crime scene and although a bit creepy it was a worthwhile trip seeing how much the people had suffered and just how recently it all happened. A day trip that took it out of us so once we got back we rested before our planned boys' night in the city. It was only a short stop in Phnom Penh but a good one that did well to finish the Cambodia tour on a strong note after a successful two weeks in the country. I am ready to leave the place now despite enjoying it as night after night of not even a fan to cool you down when sleeping, no hot water and more often than not no water at all to even wash with takes quite a bit of getting used to as running so low on money now we're taking every opportunity to save. A very good experience though and I'm glad I chose to finish my trip here. Sitting here now waiting for our 2am night bus and my final bus trip which is an odd feeling after spending I reckon at the very least 2 weeks on a bus during my tour with 12 hour journeys becoming the norm. Will write my final and 30th blog from Bangkok in a few days' time just before my flight home!
