This blog has had to come much later than I had planned as I found out just how remote the west coast on the south island is. Since the last blog I started through Rotorua, just for the one night as I had been there for three days previously on the way up. It wasn't the most exciting day and night of my life as most people went off to do the activities I'd already done, I stuck to playing the manager of the hostel at pool, keeping him from doing any work which might have explained how dead the bar was later that night leaving me in good shape for an early start ready to leave for Taupo. Again I stayed in Taupo just for the one night as I'd already been there for four days on the way up. The one night was enough though to take part in a pub quiz and win, winning a free night's accommodation. The next day I set off for River Valley, a place I hadn't been to but had heard plenty about so was looking forward to it. Once arriving I found out it truly was in the middle of nowhere, no phone reception, internet, nothing. Only a BBQ, a volley ball net, an ice cold river and some Swedish girls to keep me entertained. The night before the famous white water rafting trip was spent making the most of all four of those, in the also famous dorm rooms which included 20 beds all lined up next to each other, not leaving too much to the imagination. The rafting in the morning was awesome, which I've got some great pictures of in the recent photo albums I've put on here. A serious challenge but a great bit of exercise and fun which was well needed after the boring last two days I'd had. After a quick lunch we headed off for Wellington, which I had also taken care of on the way up so I had one night planned there, and one very messy night which didn't disappoint. The next blog will come from the other island of New Zealand as I cross on the ferry, very hungover, and very outnumbered by Swedish.
