My day started at 6am. Breakfast was a little different at the hotel restaurant but I managed some sausage, egg and toast. (They didn't even have decent coffee - had to wait for the airport. Took a very direct and speedy route to the airport with a friendly chatty taxi-driver.

Dubai airport has 5 terminals - the one I was in didn't have free internet so I wasn't able to catch up with emails and facebook. But I got an extremely good cappuccino at a Scandinavian ice-cream joint.

The trip to Heathrow was very smooth and again I filled in my time dozing, and watching TV & movies. I had a spare seat next to me so could spread out a little this time.

My friends Paul & Barb collected me from the airport and took me to their place for a scrummy dinner. They then dropped me off at my hotel - a delightful old pub which will be my home for the next few days. I will put up a few new photos from this arvo thanks to the free internet here at the pub.

Tomorrow Barb is taking me to London by train to see some of the tourist sights, so some good photos hopefully to come. Hopefully my 'gammy' knee will stand up to all the walking.
