Got up at 6 to do some face-booking, have a shower and get some breakfast. The brekky was good - standard western fare that you'd expect from an international hotel.
Caught the Skytrain back to Terminal 1 and checked in, in plenty of time. They even had free internet in the airline lounge so I was able to do a couple of things before embarking. Had a good flight - although the man in front and man beside me continually wanted to invade my seat space - one with his seat back (even in take-off & landing) and the other just spread OUT toooo much.
I arrived in Dubai (texted family & friends) and walked what seemed like kilometers from the arrival gate to passport check-in. It took about an hour (standing around) to get through immigration. I injured my leg earlier in the year playing tennis. I re-injured in Fiji (too much sitting cross-legged on the floor). With my walking around Singapore yesterday and today's walking and standing leg's really hurting. Decided I'm not venturing out tonight.
The taxi ride to the hotel was fun...the first guy I met in the taxi-rank turned out to be a tout - tried to get an inflated amount for the trip (didn't get sucked in though). Then had a very circuitous taxi trip to a hotel but it turned out to be the wrong hotel. It was the right chain but there are apparently 8 of them in Dubai, so some more walking.
Here now and plan to stay in the hotel room until its time to head off to London tomorrow.
