Study Trip Itinerary 11 November - I leave Brisbane airport at some ridiculous hour in the morning and get to Singapore later that morning. Will be remembering my late Dad, L/Sgt Reg Pohlmann (hopefully at a Remembrance Day Ceremony) there. Staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. 12 November - travelling to Dubai next morning and staying at the Golden Sands Hotel. 13 November - It's my eldest son Ben's 28th birthday - it's also the day I travel to London. ...

So I have overnight stays in Singapore and Dubai on my way over and way back. I am also staying a couple of nights in London on the way over. If anyone has been to those places and has ideas of things that a traveller should see (and could see in a limited time) please let me know. Most of my time in Dublin is spoken for but I'm always open to ideas.

Realised fairly recently that I am flying out rather early on the 11th of November. That means that I will be spending the lion's share of Remembrance Day 2011 in Singapore. That will be an unusual feeling. I always 'keep' ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day as special and sacred. My Dad served in the Pacific in WW2 and eventually died in his 80s from War-service related illnesses. Will be rather different 'remembering' somewhere other than the land of 'OZ'.

The College has booked my flights - travelling out of Brissy on 11 October stopping overnight in Singapore & Dubai, and then onto London. Staying a couple of days there before taking a train and ferry to Dublin. (I'm a lousy flyer so I have broken my trip into 7hr bits). The program is starting to come together in Ireland with a guest lecturing spot one Saturday, attending the National School Chaplain Association of Ireland Conference, and visiting Chaplainc...

Am now booked in to the Retreat Centre attached to the Redemporistine Monastry in Dublin. Known by some as the 'Red Nuns' the Redemporistine Sisters run this as well as a number of other activities as part of monastic life. See their website here http://www.rednuns.com/
