Today was the last day of the chaplain's conference.
After breakfast we gathered again to pray - this time we gathered around the centre-piece pictured. There was a prayer services but it included this song - one of my favourites...
Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the holy One, is here;
come bow before him now
with reverence and fear
in him no sin is found
we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the holy One, is here.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around;
he burns with holy fire,
with splendour he is crowned:
how awesome is the sight
our radiant king of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around.
Be still, for the power of the Lord
is moving in this place:
he comes to cleanse and heal,
to minister his grace -
no work too hard for him.
In faith receive from him.
Be still, for the power of the Lord
is moving in this place.
After prayer we gathered for the Chaplain's Association's AGM - during this time I learnt alot about how complex chaplaincy is in Irish schools - each of the various sectors have different rules about the deployment and employment of chaplains. See http://irishschoolchaplains.com/
After the morning tea which followed (in which I hurriedly packed my things) the Eucharist was celebrated.
Sr Susie offered to drop me back to Dublin. We stopped at Kildare for lunch and then proceeded through some of the side-roads via Phoenix Park (http://www.phoenixpark.ie/) back to Dublin.
I'm still finding it hard to cope with it being dark from mid-afternoon but that's Ireland for you.
Tomorrow - Dublin city centre for sight-seeing and shopping.
