Of the 100 things we wanted to do and see in Buenos Aires and did not have time for, we did eat exceptional steaks at El Cabrera. A classic steakhouse in the especially trendy Soho area of the overall fancy pants Palermo barrio of BA. It is basically the area of the same name in NYC in South America. However, it was enjoyable to eat at a quality restaurant and stay at a nice hostel that was basically a small boutique hotel with an amazing rooftop no matter how many cigarette dangling hipsters with asymmetrical haircuts were pouting about having to turn off the music for the dance party. Our highlight was definitely walking through the beautiful Recoleta cemetery where the fathers of BA and Argentinian war heroes are buried in elaborate marble and stone structures. Typically these structures had glass doors were you could easily see the old wooden coffins out in the open, and often times the small houses really went down three flights of stairs in which other family members were laid to rest. One surprising element of the cemetery they don't tell you in the guidebooks is the presence of dozens of free range cats we'll call them that watch over the grounds and may stare at you with a rather strong sense of disapproval.
