After wrapping up a few last minute things and finally packing everything we set off for our 10 hour flight to Buenos Aires. Our packs came in at a rather light weight of 26 lbs including all of our camping gear, and luckily we were able to carry on the plane without a problem. Stumbling through some rough Spanish and hand gestures we acquired some cafe con leche and lunch and discovered the talk of the Argentinian sweet tooth, and specifically for dulce de leche, is indeed true with confiterias on most blocks. We had a good bit of rest during the day at the Art Factory hostel (photo is one of the rooms if you were wondering about the lovely cow on the red wall) in the San Telmo neighborhood. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in BA with many beautiful historic buildings, but new construction seems to squeeze in spaces around every corner just as the drivers in BA seem to, and actually do most of the time, squeeze just one more lane out of each road. The first night concluded at the rooftop bar of the hostel with about 15 other travelers from around the world with a wonderful endless barbecue of different cuts of beef and sausages and wine until we were content and tired once again as most dinners in Argentina do not end, or sometimes even begin, until midnight. Waking up the next morning we found the on and off downpours and overcast sky to not be the best time to see more of the city so we jumped on a bus to Puerto Iguazu where we will see the magnificent Iguazu falls. I am writing this on hour 7 of 18, but the buses are amazingly comfortable though there is no escaping American entertainment. We have already seen two movies, and as I type, a mix of random early 2000s music videos just began playing including Ace of Base (you know the one) and some early Britney Spears. Oh boy. Questioning the hope for true unique cultural identity among the younger generations.

Ruby Maddox Hi david! We need to use the camera thing. Hope your having a time!
Carol Sounds great, you are having some unique experiences & meeting some interesting people. Thanks for sharing. Love, Mom
Penny Wade and I had some wonderful beef in BA, but didn't see the city like you two are. It was January when we were there. We had to be in the grounds by 10 pm, but then you could stay up and chat with students to all hours if you wanted to.
Gramps Have fun, but be careful of the agua???
Penny (mom) HOw about getting close to an internet cafe or wireless at McDonalds so we can get an open chat going? Just kidding, I bet you are far away from internet...........
Amberlina So glad to hear about your first couple of days into your travel. Give Leah a kiss and hug from Araya and I
Sporty Gram Hi Lee, Thanks for sharing. it makes it feel better than just knowing you are out there in the big wide world somewhere. Be safe!
the diva thanks for posting this, it is so interesting and it is so nice to know you are having fun and doing well!!
Garrard Brown Sounds awesome David! ENJOY and keep us updated.
Penny We had 40 degrees today, and the Packers lost their first game of the season, to the Chiefs. Wade said they are not a very good team and we lost to them. Sad. I was out riding with Sallie, we had a good girls time today. How you doing with The Davido man? Hope nobody is getting on each others nerves. I didn't sleep too well the last few nights, and was touchy today.... but maybe it was deserved.... no... just kidding Wade. We gave mom her i-pad today. She knew it was coming, just a matter of time. She said my skirt was too short! Omg! just cuz it was new and really cute, and was above my knees! Gosh!
Pam Once you turn 50 you got to be below the knees Too bad
Penny Well, I wonder if they are at the falls and did anyone go over in a barrel? Do they have a town there with fast food and ferris wheels and native american moccasins for sale? Maybe not, but I check this blog twice a day to get the updates. By the way the Pack lost yesterday to the Chiefs. Wade was disgusted.
Shari (lover of spandex) I looked up the falls that you were talking about and they look AMAZING! Hope you took lots of pictures and you both are having a good time. =)
