Well, Paris, you are a beautiful city. I got to Paris in 30+ degree weather everyday, it was stinking hot. As soon as i got off the train (which was from amsterdam and was the best way to travel by far) and instantly i felt like i needed to watch my wallet, everyone in Paris was looking to scam or steal from you.
The actual city is beautiful, all the places like louvre, champs elysee, big and little palaces, etc were amazing. Eiffel tower was so big, i was really surprised how high it actually is. My hostel was really nice but the people wernt as good so i kind of went adventuring on my own. The metro was packed with people and it was not airconditioned so I found myself reguarly jammed in trains with 100's of people and the stink was extreme. Overall i gotta admit i didnt like Paris, it was to overrun by tourists and the parisians are extremely rude to english speaking people (which is fair enough) i found it hard to order food or ask directions. THe straw that broke the camels back was when i was in a McDonalds using the free Wifi and three little kids surrounded me and flashed peices of paper in my face, i grabbed on to my laptop and said 'piss off' and thought i had done quite well until i realised about 5 minutes later that my phone had been pinched. I just said to myself ' ah s***, bravo young children, well played', from that point i had mixed feelings about Paris.
Having said that - The highlight by so far, and maybe the whole trip to this point, was the Louvre. I went through it for a bit looking at the paintings thinking ' i really dont know anything about art, what am i doing' so i went back and bought the audio guide and it was the best 5 euro i ever spent! I learnt so much about the paintings, i was really interested in the ones around christ and the ones around the french revoloutions eg. Bonapart. I like many tourists who know nothing about about art were a bit dissapointed by the mona lisa, but my favourtie artwork was the one behind it that was HUGE based on a moment from the bible where Jesus attends a wedding and turns water to wine. Best painting by far, that and the raft of the medusa was amazing too. Loved the Louvre, i could go back three more times and still not see it all.
Apart from that i didnt like Paris, too busy, its just not for me, unless the tour is one i might try and go back to see the end of the race on the champs elyseey.
Caught a flight to Rome and couldnt wait to get out of there!!

Meagan Agree re Paris (I was only there for a day)... I also agree about the paintings around the Mona Lisa (much better than that little thing!) Did you get a phone back? What happened there - how are you communicating???
