David and Julie Browning's Travels
Headed back to Frankfurt to drop Jake off for his flight back home. Didn't do much - checked in late afternoon, rested up, went into the city for some supper (found a good German eatery), back to the hotel, good nights sleep, dropped Jake off at Frankfurt airport (a few tears shed by you know who), then on the road to Paris for myself Julie and Sam (about 6 hour drive).
We have spent about 3 weeks in Germany, longer than we expected, but good nevertheless.
A few points about traveling in Germany:
Postscript - Some of you may have seen a comment posted on this entry (since deleted) which commented on the entry "food is unimaginative ......." which said "I went to Hamburg and there was not a single restaurant that served sauerkraut and dumplings. Therefore i cal bs on this one, i think you only wanted to put in some stereotypes about bavaria maybe? Its like saying i went to australia and there were prisoners indeed....". Can't let this go without a counter comment. Firstly it was not a comment on Hamburg alone, but on Germany in general. While there are some regional differences, pork sauerkraut dumplings potatoes and schnitzels dominate most menus, no matter where you are. And as stated, in general the food is delicious. And a note to whomever posted the comment (it was anonymous), Hamburg is not in Bavaria, it is in Lower Saxony.
With that, we loved Germany and hope to return in the future.

A few points about traveling in Germany:
- No tolls to pay
- Petrol is cheaper than France or Italy.
- Accommodation is slightly dearer.
- The food is unimaginative. You can go into any restaurant and you will see the same dishes on the menu - sauerkraut, pork, dumplings, fried potatoes, potato soup. Delicious but not very varied (can't wait to get back to France).
