14:45 We tried taking the mountain pass through Vik but when we got to the top the snow was getting thicker and thicker and whaddya know? The tunnels blocked off half way down. Poo! They didn't even bother to block the entrance. So we decided to get to the next campsite by going the 'alternative' route. In England that means you take a different road and add up to 10 minutes onto your journey. In Norway that means going round the bases of 25 different mountains!...

3pm Woke up to sun. Sun! The fjord was less oppressive without the looming greyness. We went into Vik again this morning where we bought some lunch to make later on and then travelled further out into the mountains where we were presented with the thickest snow I've ever seen. 10pm I'm in my tent! It's the first time I've taken off my shoes since I put them on at home, which was 47 hours ago. Oh no, I took them off briefly when we slept in the car last night, but thought it best for all if they stayed on. Day 1 Thursday 10th May 12am On the coach to Heathrow. I feel like a huge weights been lifted from me as I leave Leeds. 4pm Arrived in Oslo. Rented a car.
