We tried taking the mountain pass through Vik but when we got to the top the snow was getting thicker and thicker and whaddya know? The tunnels blocked off half way down. Poo! They didn't even bother to block the entrance. So we decided to get to the next campsite by going the 'alternative' route. In England that means you take a different road and add up to 10 minutes onto your journey. In Norway that means going round the bases of 25 different mountains! Not complaining really, we met a lovely couple on the ferry who happened to be English. Ben thought they were hobbits. The drive was stunning and involved the Lærdal tunnel - the longest tunnel in the world at 24.5km.

Vang Camping, Gudvangen, Nærøyfjord. A hut. This place is like a mighty Jotnar troll has put a couple of ants in a smarty tube and blown down it really hard. Crazy wind = no tent. We have free wifi though! Just like the Norsk huts of old. I feel oppressed here though. Taking a long walk along the valley in the pouring rain was fun (especially with no footpaths (although drivers drive well out of the way for us - another display of Norwegian courtesy)), but I spent most of the time with cold wet feet - a real mood killer. But here I am in bed top to toe with a hero. Who can complain?
