Hello few,
This is the blog that failed to post properly before, but luckily, I'm a genius and found it. Or in other words, i found they had saved it, more or less in full. Now you can enjoy the full experience and for free
Hello.
Much time has passed and many things have occurred, Chief amoungst which were the trips of grand canyon and las Vegas. These were gooooood times.
Well from where I left off we headed to salt lake city but ntnto do anything more than to stop off and research our next few days. grand canyon is strange as the main section of the canyon is all Indian reservations and you have to get permits etc to get into. Therefore the simpler option seemed too be to get on a tour from Vegas. There are other areas of the canyon though that are much looser to decided to spend a few days exploring the grand staircase.
There are many things in this area, massive cliffs, giant slots which are just cracks in the ground, desert, rocks, just a massive landscape with all natural weird things in.
Day one we were in escxelante and explored spooky and peak a boo slots. Scraping ourselves through cracks in the ground with relatively little sunlight was very good. Look up pictures of these things and you will understand. I'm not exactly obese but at times I was literally scraping both sides trying to fit down these areas. On the way back stopped at devils garden wiythb some weird natural monuments. Its going to be near impossible for me to describe a lot of this stuff n grand canyon so just look it up or wait for me to eventually upload some photos.
Day 2 we decided more slots were in order and managed eventually to find tunnel slots (which were full of water) and zebra. One thing to note in these areas is that although all these things are heavily advertised, to reach them you have to drive 10-50 miles down a dirt road, then hike 2-3 miles, all with pretty much no signage. At most some other hikers may have left a stack of rocks signifying something is that way every mile or so. There is nothing to show which way and as such you have to hunt for everything.
Sadly it rained the next day and the road to big horn slots was closed. Beating this in mind we headed to Bryce canyon and explored all, that area, again very interesting but more limited in what you can do. From here we headed down to kanab, horseshoe bend, Powell lake and vermillion cliffs and then the wave and lofts of other geological features. We also found d a Walmart here to stay at rather than a campsite, a free night is always appreciated.
The final night was spent in Zion national park. Massive mountains and canyons here. In the morning we took a trek up a river. We were advised in the info office that this should only either be done in summer or whilst wearing dry suits since you literally walk up the river. We decided to ignore this and just waltz on down it. Made it about 1.5 miles before our toes began to near falling off and we were forced to tur. Back. But this was enevitable and we knew it, saw some good stuff and had been worth it. In the afternoon we stopped off at weeping rock and then went on to angels landing.
This is strange one as although it was one of the best experiences I've had I wouldn't rreccomend it to anyone I like for fear I will tereefore be partly responsible for their death. Angels landing is a 2.5 mile, 1400 ft up, trek to the top of a rather high mountain. The first 2 miles is just steep path with no problem, after that though the paths stop and you are climb I g sheer rock to get to the top. Every now and then there is a chain hand rail but these just stop for large periods. You slip, you go over the edge and have plenty or time to work out how your footing should have been before you hit the ground.at times it was less than 3 ft with straight drops on both sides. I've done risks before and stood on the edge of canyons but this was the first timeive felt in real danger. Still, made it to the top And it was awesome. Great views.
After this is was on our way to Vegas

Dad I've looked at the images on google and, apart from angels landing, they all look marvelous, spectacular, vivid, thrilling. Angels landing looks just horrifying, frightening, diarrhea causing..... I see what you mean about the handrails. They just stop. The signs say it is strenuous. I would rub this out and put "extremely dangerous and should only be done by helicopter. Don't think I'll ever climb it, unless hooded and tied to a gang of Sherpas.
