our adventure
We took up some more crazy watersports in Cairns, this time Nick took us on a 'off-piste' rafting trip with his mates and did all the crazy stuff he wasnt allowed to do on the commercial tours, so we got flipped, spun and generally soaked all day. then Jonny (pen's other uncle) took us cable skiing which was wakeboarding but instead of using a boat you got pulled around the lake on a huge pulley system!!!! we finished our time there with the rather more sedate activity of kite-flying which was also lots of fun in a less dangerous way!
So, we've now left the Cairns beaches and are back in backpacker mode (staying in hostels again!!). We've made it down to Magnetic Island, which is a volcanic outcrop of granite boulders just off the coast from Townsville.
The weathers gone a bit pants but the huts that we're staying in are right on the beach so we can't really complain.
We managed to stay awake last night to watch the footie and had great plans to try to see the Sweden game but failed miserably, mind you it was on at 2.45am!!
Been on an escapade today and walked about 10km from bay to bay. We even managed to spot 2 'real' koalas ie ones not in zoos.
Will write again soon, lots of love xxxx
